The devastated children of a mum who died in a horror tragedy during a day at the beach have penned heartbreaking letters to her. Saffron Cole-Nottage passed away after she fell between large boulders at the beach in Lowestoft, Suffolk, on February 2.

Emergency services raced to the incident but sadly the 32-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. It is understood the mum from Kent drowned after getting trapped in the boulders along the seawall not far from the Royal Green area of the resort, reports the Mirror.

On a small card found close to the site of her death, one of her children wrote: “My beautiful mummy, I love you the world.” Another childlike message said: “Mummy, love you.” A longer message read: “Dear mum, thank you for all that you have done for me. Love you lots, we will all miss you loads.”

On the right hand card, a message from a man who appears to be her partner reads: “My Darling Saff. What can I really say. There are no words to express how much we will miss you. The world is so cruel and to take you in this freak horrific way will not sit well with me for the rest of my life.

“You will be forever missed by so many and I’m really not sure I’ll ever be the same without you and never forget you. Until we meet again. Love you always.” Online tributes on social media said: “rest in paradise Saff” with family sympathies shared and love expressed to a “beautiful, amazing lady.”

One said: “My beautiful bestie forever 32 the light to my everything I will miss u forever and always – the pain hurts so much, love you Saffron Cole-Nottage.”

A huge emergency response was seen at the Esplanade at around 8pm on Sunday evening following reports a person had fallen into the sea. Police, HM Coastguard rescue officers from Lowestoft, the East of England Ambulance Service and the East Anglian Air Ambulance all responded.

A police spokesman said: “Suffolk Constabulary was called at around 8.03pm on Sunday night, by the ambulance service, to an incident on the coast off The Esplanade in the town. A woman, aged in her 30s, sadly died at the scene.”

The force said the death is currently being treated as unexplained, but there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances at this time. A file is now being completed for the coroner.
