MERCER COUNTY, W.Va. -Two local universities are coming together for some competition with a great cause.
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes at both Concord and Bluefield State Universities are preparing for some friendly competition to help benefit Heaven Sent Ministries.
The group’s purpose is “to nourish both the body and the spirit through food dispersion and gospel proclamation,” as said on their website.
In one challenge planned, groups of 12 work in a conveyer belt style to build food packs for people around the world in need.
An ambassador for FCA at Concord came up with this idea to not only provide fellowship for the athletes but also pull together in the community to spread help spread an important message.
“It is not that they are just going to provide food, it is also to take the gospel message out as well and that is why the connection is great, I feel for FCA. We have the Fellowship of Christian Athletes meeting to serve. That is one thing we are about, and this is a neat way to do that. Tie in a little bit of competition, but it is also community service, its ministry, it is having fun,” said Steve Barrett, FCA Ambassador.
If you’d like to join-in here, you can contact Heaven Sent Ministries at (304) 425-7120.
The competition is set for February 11th.
