Netflix’s Virgin River has long been a fan favourite, offering a mix of small-town charm, heartfelt romance and dramatic twists. However, it seems now some viewers are beginning to grow tired of the show.
Many fans have taking to Reddit to express their growing frustration and lack of enthusiasm for the latest seasons.
One viewer in particular voiced their disappointment with certain characters, including Lizzy, Denny, and Brie. “I don’t know. Just seems off, I guess. Maybe it’s the writing…” they remarked, adding that they planned to buy the books, hoping they might enjoy them more.
The timeline of the series has also been frustrating for fans, as the show has covered only a year within five seasons. As one fan wrote: “I’ve devoured all the other seasons and I can’t get through the first episode of this newest season. It’s getting tiring.”
“I know Covid screwed things up but we only got through a year over the course of 5 years in seasons. I just don’t feel the charm and chemistry anymore,” they continued.
Whilst another fan was quick to agree on the lack of chemistry, saying: “100% agree with the charm and chemistry fading.. I pretty much agree with everything you said. Unfortunately.”
Some viewers admitted they struggled to stay engaged with the latest seasons. As one fan confessed: “I skipped a lot of scenes in season 5. It varies for me, sometimes this show is my background show or I’m fully invested.”
Another agreed, describing season five as “boring and just brought up old material from previous seasons on repeat. It was slooow.”
For one fan, the show has transformed into a soap opera, stating: “It’s basically a low-grade soap with a high production budget filmed somewhere really pretty. It is not a high quality drama on any level.”

The show has to do something drastic for season seven, it appears, to get the viewers attention again, as multiple social media users have confessed they wont be watching it.
One wrote: “I’m not even excited for season 7” as another replied: “I completely agree with you, I’m on season 6 and I’m just bored now.” Whilst another simply stated: “This slow moving, badly-acted soap opera may have run its course.”
