Two vehicles crashed after police were alerted to a disturbance in a Scots town.

Emergency crews were alerted to the incident at Lochranza Drive in the Lindsayfield area of East Kilbride this morning, Thursday, February 6, at around 11:40am.

Police confirmed that two vehicles were involved in a crash following the disturbance and said that officers remain at the scene this afternoon.

There is no information on any injuries or arrests at this stage.

An image from the scene shows police tape cordoning off a section of the street, with three stationary police vehicles nearby.

Speaking to the Record, one local woman, Pauline Jones, explained how she was startled to hear ‘sirens blaring’ in the street.

“This is a quiet wee street and nothing out of the ordinary really happens here.

“The police just suddenly burst into the street this early afternoon with sirens blaring.

“They’ve taped off half the street and a number of police cars are parked in the middle of the road.

“Detectives are mulling around outside but they haven’t told us what is happening and a lot of people can’t exit the street because of the cordon.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 11.40am on Thursday, 6 February, we were called to a report of a disturbance in the Lochranza Drive area of East Kilbride.

“Two vehicles were subsequently involved in a crash and enquiries are ongoing.

“Officers remain in attendance. There is no risk to the wider public.”
