A 35-year-old man has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl in Paisley.

The girl was approached by the man while sitting at a bus stop on Causeyside Street in the Renfrewshire town at around 6.15pm on Monday, February 3.

He then assaulted her before disappearing, with police quick to launch a search in order to trace him.

He is now due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court at a later date.

Officers are also looking to speak to two other females who were at the bus stop at the time and asked the girl if she was okay.

Detective Inspector David Tomlinson said: “I’d like to thank everyone who has come forward with information so far. I’m still keen to trace two females who spoke to the girl at the bus stop around the time of the incident. I’d urge them to contact us.”

The females, or anyone with any information, should call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3158 of 3 February, 2025.
