Billy Joel will play a concert at Citi Field on Aug. 21 alongside Sting, the performers announced Thursday.
Tickets go on sale Feb. 14 at 10 a.m. A presale for Citi card holders will begin Feb. 10 and continue through next week until tickets are released to the general public.
The show at the Mets’ ballpark in Queens will be one of three Joel plays in the tristate area this summer. The Long Island native will also perform at Yankee Stadium with Rod Stewart on July 18 and MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., on Aug. 8 with Stevie Nicks.
Joel, 75, famously played the final two shows at the Mets’ previous ballpark, Shea Stadium, in July 2008 for the “The Last Play at Shea.” During those two shows, Joel was joined for various songs by Paul McCartney, Tony Bennett, Steven Tyler, Roger Daltrey, John Mellencamp, Garth Brooks and John Mayer.
“Throughout Mets history, there’s always been a special connection with Billy Joel and the Mets,” the team’s VP of Events Nikki Romolo said in a statement. “We’re looking forward to welcoming this native New Yorker home for his first concert at Citi Field.”
Sting, 73, has been to a Mets ballpark before as well. He played Shea Stadium on Aug. 18, 1983, as the frontman for The Police. He and Joel are scheduled for several shows together in 2025, including an April 11 gig in Syracuse and a Sept. 5 performance in Washington, D.C.
