AUSTIN, Texas — Austin police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing French bulldog that was stolen after a shooting in East Austin.
According to the Austin Police Department (APD), the incident occurred at around 8:45 p.m. Sunday in the 1100 block of Shady Lane.
Police say the victim was walking his two dogs at an apartment complex when the suspect, identified as Raderrick Harvey, drove up to him and asked about his French bulldog, Freya.
Harvey demanded that the victim give him Freya, but the victim refused. Harvey then allegedly shot the victim in the foot and took Freya, while also dragging and running over the victim’s other dog while driving away. The other dog suffered minor injuries.
Harvey was located in Elgin on Feb. 4 and was arrested by APD, the Elgin Police Department and the Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office. During his arrest, officers and deputies said that Harvey was in possession of two rifles and a small amount of unidentified illegal drugs.
Freya has still not been recovered, and APD said they believe she has been passed around multiple parties. Harvey is currently being held at the Bastrop County Jail.
