Sao Paulo was blanketed in smoke today after a light aircraft crashed into the city, resulting in two fatalities and injuring two others. The plane, a King Air F90, came down in the Marquês de São Vicente area of the city’s west.
It was attempting an emergency landing when it collided with a bus, causing the vehicle to erupt into flames. Emergency services are currently on the scene assessing if there are any additional casualties.
Two burnt bodies were discovered in the wreckage of the plane. The bus driver and a passing motorcyclist were injured during the crash.
The fire department informed local press that the 732 bus, operated by the Santa Brigida bus company, had no passengers on board at the time of the incident. The eight-seater plane departed from Campo de Marte at 7:15 am, according to pilots operating in the same area who spoke to TV Globo.
It is believed the plane was trying to execute an emergency landing on the avenue’s runway before the crash occurred, reports the Mirror.
