It’s Game On!
Do you have two minutes to spare? Well that’s all you’ll need for Record Sport’s newly-launched podcast which will see the expert panel discuss all the big issues in Scottish sport and beyond – in perfect bitesize chunks. No subject is safe. Our team answer honestly and quickly in this no-nonsense debate.
The shy and retiring duo of Michael Gannon and Graeme Young, yeah right, head to the studio to debate the big sporting issues.
In this week’s episode which is available now on Youtube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts, the guys discuss a range of topics from Celtic against Bayern Munich, Rangers deserving a pass for a quiet window and why Patrick Mahomes is in the mix to supersede Tom Brady as the GOAT of American football.
Maeda or Kuhn? Which Celtic player will win player of the year?
GY: I would still go for Nicolas Kuhn. It has been a phenomenal year for him. One of his slaloming runs, where he beats eight players, will hit the net and land him player of the year.
MG:Daizen Maeda is the player of the year, he is the player of the year, he has scored 18 goals. Who would be the bigger miss vs Bayern, Maeda or Kuhn?
GY: Kuhn has a level of quality, a shimmy and a shake, above Maeda.
MG: If you could swap Maeda for Kuhn, give Maeda’s ban to Kuhn, would you do it?
GY: Potentially….
MG: Therefore he is player of the year, look at his goals against Motherwell and Dundee, a header and a chip like Henrik Larsson.
Will Jimmy Thelin survive a Cup shock against Dunfermline?
GY: I’m very strong on the answer, I think he could lose 10-0 and survive. Even when Aberdeen were winning, I never felt it was performance based, I felt it was results based.
MG: I kept saying ‘they are heading for a fall’
GY: Dave Cormack is tied down with Thelin. They have spent a lot of money, they have to make it work. Fans must be worried sick.
MG: I think Aberdeen fans are on board, hanging on board, with Jimmy Thelin.. Losing goals, not scoring, this is a toxic, deadly combination for Aberdeen.
GY: Dunfermline are coming armed with a big fanbase and itching to cause a shock.
