A bottle of YSL’s iconic Black Opium Eau de Parfum is on sale at Boots ahead of Valentine’s Day – and it’s the cheapest we have spotted it going for.

There’s no denying the reputation this bold fragrance has earned, with a loyal fanbase devoted to its “intoxicating” and “divine” scent. Launched in 1977, it has gone on to inspire a wide range of other scents, but the classic is the one perfume buffs always return to.

If you still need to get a gift ahead of Friday, February 14, then a 30ml bottle at Boots has been reduced from £67 to £53.60 That is cheaper than both The Perfume Shop and Superdrug where the same size is priced at £65 and £67 respectively.

Winner of the 2021 Sunday Times Style Beauty Awards, Black Opium has earned a legion of fans for its “captivating” scent that boasts a mix of florals that has been twisted with an overdose of coffee. Scent aside, its black, sparkly bottle with the pink-hued centre is just as iconic.

While there are many variations of the scent on the market these days, this original fragrance’s signature note is black coffee accord that has been mixed in with sensual vanilla. The rich scent is then softened with white flowers, orange blossom, patchouli and white musk.

One Boots shopper said: “Intoxicating fragrance, an icon for a reason. The coffee note is divine and blends well with the other notes and adds an intensity to it that makes it last a long time on the skin. I’m never without it now.”

A second perfume fan said: “I love this perfume. Upon opening this bottle you can already smell this and it is intoxicating. I have had so many compliments when wearing this perfume and it seems to stay on the skin for a long time. One of the best out there.”
