MERCER COUNTY, W.Va. – Feb. 7 is the last day to apply for FEMA assistance, with the hard deadline for online applications being midnight.

However with the recent freeze on federal funding, questions remain in regards to FEMA and SBA.

“The freeze has not, and at the moment does not affect any FEMA assistance for the residents of Mercer County,” said Georgeta Dragoiu, Federal Coordinating Officer for FEMA.

SBA echoed this sentiment, assuring that the freeze is not currently affecting it.

“We are still taking applications in, and funds will be dispersed accordingly, so we encourage everybody to come in regardless of that and take advantage and get your application in, so survivors are still being dispersed money,” explained Wakim Brice, Officer in Charge with SBA.

Although the deadline to apply for FEMA aid is still Midnight on Feb. 7, SBA is now offering a surplus of time.

“Applicants can continue to apply for 60 additional days online,” continued Brice.

Applications for FEMA aid must be done by Midnight on Feb. 7, which you can do online or by phone.

FEMA and SBA will be in Mercer County to answer any additional questions applicants may have until Feb. 14.
