The future is uncertain for Travis Kelce.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end is undecided about playing next season, according to NFL Media, meaning Sunday’s Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans could end up being Kelce’s final game.

Kelce, 35, is expected to consider his options during the early portion of the offseason and make a decision before free agency begins on March 12.

Speculation about Kelce’s future hung over his press conference at last week’s Super Bowl LIX kickoff, where the future Hall of Famer did not sound like someone thinking about retirement.

“Where will I be in three years? Hopefully still playing football,” Kelce said. “I love doing this. I love coming into work every day. I feel like I still have a lot of good football left in me.”

But seemingly endless media opportunities await Kelce in retirement.

His “New Heights” show with his brother, Jason Kelce, is among the most-streamed podcasts in the U.S. Last year, “New Heights” earned an Amazon contract worth more than $100 million.

Kelce has also hosted “Saturday Night Live” and the game show “Are You Smarter than a Celebrity?”

As the boyfriend of Taylor Swift, Kelce’s superstardom transcends football.

“I know I’ve been setting myself up for other opportunities in my life,” Kelce said last week.

“That’s always been the goal, knowing that football only lasts for so long. You have to find a way to get into another career and another profession. I’ve been doing that in my offseasons, but for the most part, I plan on being a Kansas City Chief and playing football.”

Kelce remains among the NFL’s better tight ends, but his production dipped the past two seasons.

After seven consecutive years with at least 1,000 receiving yards from 2016-22, Kelce finished with 984 in 2023 and 823 this season.

Kelce, the NFL’s all-time leader in playoff receptions, signed a two-year, $34 million extension in April and remains under contract for 2025.

Jason Kelce retired after the 2023 season following 13 seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles. In addition to co-hosting “New Heights,” the former All-Pro center is a football analyst for ESPN.
