The Game of Thrones prequel series, House of the Dragon, is gearing up for its third season with some exciting developments. Stars Matt Smith and Fabien Frankel have disclosed that filming commenced last month for the upcoming instalment.
Moreover, during MegaCon in Orlando, Florida, the duo revealed they’ve just got their hands on the scripts for episodes four, five, and six, as preparations for shooting these parts are underway.
The show’s future seems set, with an announcement already made about a fourth and concluding season, which promises to bring closure to the haunting ‘Dance with Dragons’ narrative that has plagued the House Targaryen lineage for ages.
Despite the buzz surrounding these updates, fans have taken to Reddit to voice their discontent, particularly over the lengthy intervals between seasons.
With the second season having concluded in June this year and the third season’s production only just kicking off, viewers are bracing for a considerable wait.

This is compounded by the extensive filming schedule and the significant amount of VFX work required in post-production.
One disgruntled Reddit user lamented: “I miss when tv shows filmed on a normal schedule and we received new seasons every year (and more than 6-8 episodes)”, reports the Express.
Another added to the chorus of frustration, saying: “I’m struggling to give a s**t about shows these days when we have to wait multiple years between 8-episode seasons.”
Someone remarked: “Amen. It was one thing with GOT which aired fairly consistently throughout its run. Waiting two years for these big shows is a drag.”
Another shared their frustration: “Don’t care anymore. You can’t give us 8 episodes every 2 years with no finale and expect viewers to wanna keep watching. Ended up just googling what happens.”

An unimpressed viewer wrote: “I’m gonna watch it but my hype dropped to zero to be honest.”
Meanwhile, another fan commented: “Can’t wait for these 4 episodes, then to wait 2 years again….”
The show features an ensemble cast including the talents of Matt Smith, Fabien Frankel, alongside Emma Darcy, Rhys Ifans, Steve Toussaint, Sonoya Mizuno, and Olivia Cooke.
Recently, it was also disclosed that ‘Happy Valley’ star James Norton has been roped in as Ormund Hightower for the third installation of the series.
Drawing significant attention upon its release on HBO in 2022, the first season of the show garnered commendable feedback, earning accolades for its character arcs, stunning visual narratives, script quality, along with stellar acting performances.
House of the Dragon season three is yet to be given a release date. The first two seasons are available to watch on NOW TV
