Coronation Street viewers were left ‘broken’ and ‘feeling sick’ after noticing a disturbing hint in Monday’s episode.
In the latest instalment, available to watch from 7am on ITVX and airing at 8pm on ITV, DS Lisa Swain discovered that Carla Connor’s brother, Rob Donovan, is involved in an illicit affair with prison guard Mandy, and they are planning his escape while he waits in the hospital to donate his kidney to Carla.
Lisa persuaded Rob to proceed with the operation, promising to attempt to overturn his conviction, Lancs Live reports.
However, a new promotional trailer released by the ITV soap has sparked concern for the safety of beloved characters Carla and Lisa, also known as ‘Swarla’.

The trailer previews next week’s episodes, showing Rob ready to do whatever it takes to evade jail, regardless of who gets hurt along the way.
As both Carla and Rob recover from the kidney donation surgery, the tension escalates when Rob assaults a male security guard, steals his uniform, and kidnaps Carla as he escapes the hospital.
Lisa is in hot pursuit, but has she underestimated the lengths Rob will go to? Is he willing to kill again, or will he face severe consequences for his daring scheme?
Viewers were distracted by one scene in Monday’s episode, which they believe hints at what’s to come next week.
In the poignant scene, Carla discovered that Rob had endured an allergic reaction while in prison and was now hospitalised. In a hurry, she dashed towards the exit, as Lisa attempted a gentle touch on her arm but missed as Carla escaped her grasp on the way to the hospital.
Fans immediately voiced their apprehension on Twitter, formerly known as X, concerning this brief exchange, speculating it could be a grim hint of what’s to come for Carla’s character in next week’s show after two decades on Coronation Street.
One viewer shared the scene clip and expressed, “this shot BROKE me #swarla”, while another commented, “i feel sick tbh……. I feel like this means MORE than we all think and it’s a f**king foreshadowing [death emoji]. THAT what’s ahead will tear us apart and I’m damn curious about it (angst’ll always be my first choice) #swarla #corrie”.
A third remarked: “Gorgeous shot, and like others have said definitely foreshadowing what’s to come over the next couple of weeks. #Swarla #Corrie.”
