A teenage student found dead at his university halls in Stirling on Friday afternoon has been named.

Police raced to the Alexander Court area of Bridge of Allan – within the confines of Stirling University – after reports of a sudden death just after 2pm, with an 18-year-old found dead at the scene.

A statement provided by the university to the Stirling Observer confirmed the tragic teen as Ruben Agado, who was in his first year of a degree at the institution.

Professor Kirstie Blair, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, said: “We are extremely saddened to learn of the death of our student Ruben Agado.

“Ruben was a first-year student within the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and will be deeply missed by our university community.

“Our thoughts and condolences are with Ruben’s family and friends at this difficult time. We continue to be in contact with Ruben’s family and with Police Scotland.

“Our priority is to ensure that students and staff are fully supported.”

Alexander Court provides first year undergraduate students on-campus accommodation. It is located on the north side of the Stirling University campus, near Sheriffmuir Road.

Police confirmed to the Stirling Observer that there were no suspicious circumstances or police investigations to take place over the death, with a report being passed to the Procurator Fiscal.

Mid Scotland and Fife MSP Alexander Stewart was among those sharing his thoughts with the family.

“I know that the University has an excellent support network which will ensure that family, students and staff are all fully supported, as well as liaising with police in all their inquiries.”
