A stunning Wishaw beauty is aiming to wow the judges and make it all the way to the final of Miss Great Britain while raising awareness of the amazing work of a mental health charity.
Holly Maclean, who is a nursery practitioner at Kirkstyle Early Learning Centre in Carluke, is a finalist in the regional heat – Miss GB Glasgow 2025.
Miss Great Britain is the longest-running beauty pageant in the UK, and one of the most prestigious.
Holly, who lives in Overtown, will be using her time in the competition to promote the Lanarkshire charity You are my Sunshine (YAMS).
The 22-year-old has dipped her toes into the world of beauty pageants previously, when she entered the Miss Teen GB competition.
She recently came out of a long-term relationship and, looking towards the future, decided to put her energy back into something positive.
The former Clyde Valley High pupil said: “I was in Miss Teen GB back in 2018 and to be honest I didn’t know a lot about pageants then.
“That was a big eye opener and I just decided I wanted to get back into it.

“I went through a tough few months after a six-year relationship ended. Then I decided just to go for it, enter Miss Great Britain and start my life over again.
“I’m in the regional final in June is for Miss Great Britain Glasgow and the winner of that will go on to the final for Miss Great Britain.
“It’s not a voting system, there will be interviews and on-stage rounds, it will be down to the judges on the day.
“I’ll be talking about mental health and the reason why I chose to focus on that.

“I’m supporting You are my Sunshine because they focus on both children and adults. I thought with the job I do in the nursery, that it’s important to raise mental health awareness at a young age.
“On Friday I held a pyjama day fundraiser at the nursery and I’m going to donate the money. The kids loved it.
“I love working in the nursery, it’s such a rewarding job. My manager is so supportive.”

YAMS, a registered Scottish charity based in Newarthill, has a dedicated team aim to make a difference through education, support, advice and therapies. They provide a drop-in hub at Newarthill Library, open on Monday evenings.
The confidential support they provide is not just for those who might be experiencing mental health problems, but also for family and friends looking for advice and support.
Holly’s proud mum Lesley, added: “She has her sparkle back and is moving forward on a different path in life, and on to new things.”
