Miller Homes Scotland West is supporting two North Lanarkshire primary schools’ parent councils by donating a combined £1650 to help with funding for essential activities.
The housebuilder’s Community Fund, now in its third year and fifth round of funding, has given a welcome boost to Airdrie’s St Andrew’s Primary and Holy Cross Primary in Croy.
The initiative invites applications for funding from charities and community groups across the country.
To date, Miller Homes Scotland has supported more than 100 local groups near its developments in Scotland, with £74,500 donated to worthy causes across the country.
For St Andrew’s Primary, Miller Homes’ donation will help support in replenishing over 120 pieces of PE equipment, including footballs, foam balls and skipping ropes.
Head teacher, Marie-Claire Fiddler, said: “A huge thank you to Miller Homes who generously provided us with a grant in order to purchase some much needed replacement PE equipment.
“Thank you also to our parent council for organising this.”
Holy Cross Primary will be using the homebuilder’s funding to update resources within the school in the form of books, sports and playground equipment for their Quadrangle area of the school.
This area is used for both core learning and after school activities, such as an after school gardening club.
Head teacher, Marie Murphy, expressed her gratitude, saying: “Our parent council successfully applied for a grant from Miller Homes, and we are delighted to have received an amazing £1350.
“This money will be added to school fund monies to remove and construct a new play space/summer house in the Quadrangle.
“All classes will have access to this as part of their outdoor learning. We are excited to get the installation started – thank you Miller Homes.”
Andrew McArthur, regional operations director for Miller Homes Scotland West, added: “We’re proud to support the communities where we build, and our Community Fund initiative has become an important part of what we do at Miller Homes.
“Both Holy Cross and St Andrew’s parent councils are dedicated to providing the best possible school experience for children in the community, making them a perfect fit for our Community Fund initiative.
“We’re thrilled that this funding will help enrich the pupils’ school experience.”
