A missing Brit is “in need of medical attention” after being found by his concerned family in Tenerife.

Liam Hannigan was on holiday on the Spanish island and staying with friends he met on the trip after first jetting out with his partner on December 29. But the 34-year-old had not been in touch with family or friends since February 7, sparking concerns at home in Greater Manchester.

An appeal was launched with his information shared by the Missing Person’s Tenerife page on social media. However, earlier this evening his sister Ellie confirmed he has been found after they flew out to search for him, reports the Mirror.

She shared in a Facebook post: “My Mum and Dad have successfully found Liam while searching for him in Tenerife this evening. He is now on his way back to safety with them, where he will receive the necessary care he needs.

“Although Liam has been found, he still requires medical help before we can bring him back to Manchester. We are so grateful to everyone who has helped us during this incredibly difficult time.

“The past few weeks have been a nightmare for our family, but knowing Liam is safe and with Mum and Dad is a huge relief. Thank you all for your support and love.”

Earlier today Ellie revealed Liam’s mental health before he vanished was “not the best” and the family was “very worried about his well-being”. The family had flown out this morning to search for their beloved son, and seemingly were able to quickly track him down.

Ellie said earlier: “To address the rumours circulating on social media, we want to make it clear Liam is not out drinking or involved in any illegal activities. This isn’t about a “bender” or him wandering off drunk. He is unwell, and what he needs right now is medical attention and the care that will help him get back to health.

“As a family, we are doing everything we can to support Liam, and we ask for understanding and compassion. Mental health struggles are real, and it’s crucial that we give people the help they need—especially when they are going through something like this.

“My family are on the first flight out this morning to hopefully find Liam and get him the help he needs and eventually get him back home. Thank you to everyone who is sharing the posts and sending us well wishes.”

A Foreign Office spokesperson earlier said: “We are supporting the family of a British man in Tenerife.”
