(Gray News) – February’s full snow moon will be on display just in time for Valentine’s Day.

According to NASA, the moon will reach peak illumination on Wednesday at 8:53 a.m. EST but appear full until early Thursday evening.

The Old Farmer’s Almanac says February’s full moon is called the snow moon because of the heavy snowfall that is typical during the month.

NASA also says four planets will be visible at the same time after sunset through mid-February.

The agency says Venus will be shining brightly in the west after sunset for most of the month while the amber-orange-colored Mars will be seen in the eastern sky.

Jupiter will be bright overhead in the evening and Saturn will faintly appear low in the western sky for about an hour after sunset.

The next full moon is expected to be on March 14. That moon is called the worm moon and it will be the last full moon of winter this year.
