AUSTIN, Texas — A Del Valle man is facing charges after allegedly causing injury to a child earlier this month.
Members of the U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force (LSFTF) arrested 25-year-old Marcos Amaya Maldonado on Feb. 11 stemming from an incident that occurred on Feb. 7 in the 9900 block of Dessau Road in northeast Austin.
Maldonado was watching a 2-year-old who was the child of a woman he was dating. When the child’s mother returned to the residence from work, she noticed that the child was injured, according to an affidavit.
Medical personnel at a nearby hospital determined that the victim had sustained significant injuries.
Following an investigation on Feb. 9, the Austin Police Department (APD) Child Abuse Unit obtained a warrant in the City of Austin Municipal Court and requested assistance from the LSFTF-Austin Division to locate and apprehend Maldonado.
Members of the LSFTF located and arrested Maldonado in the 100 block of Fortuna Drive in Del Valle on Feb. 11.
Maldonado was taken to the APD Child Abuse Unit and subsequently booked into the Travis County Jail where he is awaiting further judicial proceedings.
