Cambuslang Rangers boss Paul McColl admits he won’t say too much about the referee’s performance in their 3-2 defeat to Bonnyton Thistle – for fear of another £500 fine from the SFA.
The Somervell Park side are battling away in the West of Scotland Second Division to claw themselves away from danger and missed out on crucial points on Saturday, letting a 2-0 lead slip.
Carlos Lyons scored from the penalty spot and scored a fine free-kick to put Camby in command by half-time.
But the visitors rallied and turned the game on its head in the second half, thanks to goals from Kieran Murphy, Jordan Ryan and Kris Chisholm.
McColl wasn’t happy with the display from referee Robert Thomson, but said he would bite his tongue amid recent post-match comments landing him a hefty fine from the governing body.
He said: “The way we were playing, we were doing fine until decisions went against us. But I am not going to go on about refs too much because the last time I did the SFA fined me £500.
“They got a penalty that was never a penalty for me. I’m fed up with the decision-making and the standard is so poor.
“But it is done now, I can’t go back and get the ref to change his mind.
“It would have been a huge three points. We shouldn’t be getting beat 3-2 when you are up 2-0. You should still hold the lead.”
Camby are 13th in the table and three points above the drop zone. They now have a free weekend coming up before welcoming second-bottom Forth Wanderers on February 22.
