A 15-year-old girl has suffered a suspected head injury after violence broke out outside a school.

Police were called to Longton Hall Road in Blurton, Stoke-on-Trent following reports of the disturbance.

Parents say the incident occurred as pupils were leaving St Thomas More Catholic Academy at the end of the school day, reports StokeonTrentLive. Officers received the report at 3.35pm on Tuesday, February 11.

A Staffordshire Police spokesperson said: “We were called to Longton Hall Road following reports of violence. A 15-year-old girl had been assaulted and attended hospital with a suspected head injury. Inquiries are ongoing.”

StokeonTrentLive reports that this is the latest in a series of police incidents affecting high schools this term. It follows Birches Head Academy going into lockdown due to “threats,” the arrest of three children in connection with an incident at Excel Academy, and a fight at Ormiston Sir Stanley Matthews Academy.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the Longton Hall Road incident. Anyone with information is urged to call 101, quoting incident number 394 of February 11, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously at 0800 555 111.
