This Morning’s Cat Deeley was left utterly speechless when her ITV colleague shared a revelation that was like a real-life Bridget Jones situation.
The much-anticipated sequel – Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy – will feature Renee Zellweger returning as the beloved character who finds herself navigating widowhood after the shocking death of her husband Mark Darcy and begins dating a younger man.
On Thursday’s instalment of the popular ITV daytime programme, Cat and co-host Ben Shephard welcomed fashion guru Laura Puddy to chat about the top shape-wear choices for women, coinciding with the 24th anniversary of Bridget Jones introducing audiences to her iconic oversized underwear.

Seizing the moment, Laura divulged details from her own love life, revealing: “As a single gal in her 40s, I have had a dabble with a younger man.”
A stunned Cat responded with an enthusiastic: “Oh. Give me a high five way up there.” Laura continued: “So, I can relate to Bridget on this one.”
Curiosity piqued, Ben probed: “How much younger was he?” To which Laura disclosed: “He was 17 years younger. He was 23 and I’m 40.”
Cat couldn’t contain her excitement as she exclaimed: “Yes. Laura Puddy.”
The conversation quickly turned into a quest for more juicy details, reports Wales Online, with Ben expressing: “I feel like we’re being distracted but I want to find out more.”
The studio erupted into laughter as Laura teased: “In the next show I’ll tell you everything.”
Cat then steered the discussion back to the film, questioning: “What about dating apps because she uses those as well? “.
Laura shared her thoughts: “I do think, when you get into your 40s and you’ve been single for a while your friends really encourage you to get back into the dating scene and this happens in the film too and obviously she dabbles in the apps.”
She added: “Now she has had more success than me but it is really fun and everything you want from a Bridget Jones film.”
She went on discussing the movie details: “There is a lot of references to the original film and with my fashion head on, there is obviously the big pants and we are going to talk about big pants later. So I love that and I just have to say, it’s a feel good film and my cheeks were hurting so much from smiling.”
