Emergency services rushed to East Kilbride Village to rescue a man who had become trapped between two vehicles.

Lanarkshire Live understands a delivery driver became trapped between his van and a stationary car when the van rolled backwards down a hill where it had been parked.

Police were alerted to the scene on Wardrop Place at around 4.30pm on Wednesday, February 12.

A source said: “A DPD van driver got trapped between his van and a stationary car when the van rolled back which was parked on a hill. Think the handbrake may have failed, the driver was injured and has been taken to a Glasgow hospital.

“Praying he is okay and his injuries are not too serious. Poor man just doing his job.”

The injured 48-year-old was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

Police say enquiries are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.30pm on Wednesday, February 12, we were called to a report of a man trapped between two vehicles on Wardrop Place, East Kilbride.

“Emergency services attended and the 48-year-old man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
