Coronation Street fans were left gobsmacked after learning that Cait Fitton, who portrays Lauren Bolton on the beloved ITV soap, was once a finalist on Britain’s Got Talent.
Cait, who first appeared as the fiery and loyal teenager Lauren in 2022, has been at the heart of many dramatic plots on the programme.
Her character’s journey includes dealing with her racist far-right extremist father Reece Bolton (Scott Anson) and surviving an assault by abuser Joel Deering (Calum Lill).

In a major plot twist last year, Lauren ended up killing Joel, sparking a significant whodunnit storyline on the soap, Leicestershire Live reports.
Luckily, Lauren wasn’t jailed for the crime. However, viewers have recently unearthed Cait’s past involvement in Britain’s Got Talent, where she made it to the final in 2020.
Cait was a member of the sign-language choir Sign Along With Us, which captivated audiences with their moving rendition of This Is Me from The Greatest Showman soundtrack. Despite their success, they were narrowly defeated by comedic pianist and singer Jon Courtenay.
Nonetheless, Cait’s time on BGT appears to have paid off, as two years later, she landed the role of Lauren on Coronation Street. Soap opera buffs were stunned upon discovering a TikTok video highlighting Cait’s audition on Britain’s Got Talent, leading to a wave of astonished comments.
One fan remarked: “Omg I didn’t realise that was her! ” while another admitted: “The way I’ve watched their audition 100’s of times and never realised Cait was in the group, she’s so incredibly talented! ”
Others shared their surprise, with one commenting: “No way I had no clue it was her now I can see it.”
Another fan echoed the sentiment, saying: I would never have guessed that was her! “
