A woman who hit her partner on the head with a shoe has been placed under supervision for 18 months.
Stacey Lynch, 24, admitted assaulting the man at a flat in Turquoise Terrace, Bellshill, on March 6 last year.
However, an allegation that she also struck him with a bottle, causing severe injury and permanent disfigurement, was dropped.
Defence agent Diarmid Bruce told Hamilton Sheriff Court his client now faced a much-reduced charge.
He said Lynch, of Jade Terrace, Bellshill, had herself been the victim of domestic violence in a previous relationship, adding: “She is a vulnerable young person with no assaults on her record.
“She and the complainer in this case both have a difficulty with drink and drugs.
“He has a record that includes domestic assaults and it’s significant that, on this occasion, a neighbour heard a female voice shouting ‘Someone phone the police’.
“My client felt under threat and hit her partner with a shoe.”
The court heard that Lynch spent almost a year on a 7pm to 7am curfew following an initial court appearance.
