Viral Oompa Loompa Kirsty Paterson claims she still hasn’t been paid one year on from the disastrous Willy Wonka Chocolate Experience in Glasgow.

The 30-year-old’s life was turned upside down last February after she was hired to play one of the orange-faced helpers at the two-day event.

Pictures of Kirsty in her costume circulated worldwide and the actress became an internet meme after the botched gig left families who shelled out £35 for a ticket outraged.

She claims she was promised £500 but has yet to be paid in full.

Speaking on Fubar Radio, she said: “We were supposed to get paid £500 for the two days.

“For a side gig and extra money, it’s actually quite a good rate.

“I’ve not been fully paid. I was given £200 out of the £500 paycheck.”

The actress said she had made up the missing cash with cameos and appearances in the aftermath of the failed event.

She added: “After this happened I had the Good Morning interview.

“I’ve done quite well getting jobs off of the back of it with various cameos.”

The doomed event, organised by now-dissolved House of Illuminati, promised a fun-filled day out and was promoted as an immersive and interactive family experience. But when ticket holders arrived, they were met with inadequate props, half a cup of lemonade and a ration of jellybeans.

Police were later called to the scene and shut down the event. The story made headlines, appearing on CNN and the New York Times, after being branded the new Fyre Festival.

Kirsty said that when she saw the picture of herself go viral, she hoped she could “move on”.

She added: “When the picture first came out, I was just hoping I didn’t see anyone I knew from the event and we could just have a laugh about it and move on.”

Kirsty, who is also a yoga instructor, now counts Chrissy Tiegan amongst her celebrity fans after

She is currently working on a documentary with an Emmy-award winning producer which promises to reveal the real goings on behind the botched event.

She added: “I’m actually producing my own documentary on the real story of what happened.

“It’s a really interesting story of what’s happened from the start, and I’m doing it with an Emmy winning documentary maker.

“‘I’m really excited to show everyone what’s happened, because it’s been insane.”

In November, the organiser behind the Willy Wonka Experience was exposed as a sex pest who left a woman traumatised. William Coull, 36, was placed on the sex offenders register for one year after hounding his victim between March 26 and July 2, 2024.

Coull repeatedly sent explicit pictures and messages to her despite being told to stop. One of the texts stated that Coull was a “wolf” and that she was his “prey.”

He was sentenced to 120 hours of unpaid work and put under supervision for a year.

William Coull did not respond to the Record’s attempts to contact him.
