A teenager has been charged in connection with the death of a man at a property in a Scots town.

Emergency crews raced to Commerce Street in Arbroath, Angus, after receiving reports of a death within a property at 7.40pm on Tuesday. Police attended the address and a 64-year-old man was found dead.

Formal identification has still to take place. Detectives confirmed a 19-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection.

He is due to appear at Forfar Sheriff Court on Friday. Images from the scene earlier this week show a large cordon in place and officers in white suits in attendance.

A statement from Police Scotland reads: “A 19-year-old man has been charged in connection with the death of a man in Arbroath. Officers were called to a property in Commerce Street around 7.40pm on Tuesday, 11 February, 2025 following the death of a man, believed to be aged 64.

“Formal identification has still to take place. The 19-year-old was arrested on Tuesday 11 February and is due to appear at Forfar Sheriff Court on Friday, 14 February, 2025.”
