Jerry Seinfeld bluntly told an activist he “doesn’t care about Palestine” when he was asked for a selfie. The 70-year-old comedian – known for the TV show Seinfeld – was asked for a photo by influencer Subway DJ in New York on Sunday night.

Seinfeld, who has been a long-time outspoken support of Israel, happily posed for the photo. Then Subway DJ brought up Palestine.

Subway DJ asked: “Jerry, can I get a selfie?” The comedian replied: “Sure.” Seinfeld then leaned in to pose for what he believed was a photo. Instead of taking a photo, the influencer recorded a video and put up two fingers in a peace sign ands said: “Free Palestine.”

Seinfeld remained quiet. When asked to repeat the phrase, the comedian shook his head and said: “I don’t care about Palestine,” before walking away.

The comedian had been attending the 50th anniversary celebration of Saturday Night Live at Radio City Music Hall. Seinfeld has been an outspoken supporter of Israel since the war in Gaza broke out. He visited Israel in December 2023 and met the families of the hostages

After the conflict escalated, Seinfeld said in a statement on Instagram: “We believe in justice, freedom, and equality. We survive and flourish no matter what. I will always stand with Israel and the Jewish people.” He has been disrupted at various public events by pro-Palestine protesters.

The Israeli military has killed tens of thousands of Palestinians since it invaded Gaza in October 2023. It followed the October 7 attack by Hamas, where over 1,000 Israelis were killed and hundreds were taken hostage. Both sides signed a ceasefire last month after 15 months of fighting.
