An American living in Edinburgh has called out Netflix’s portrayal of a famous scene in ‘One Day’, claiming the film misrepresented the challenge of hiking Arthur’s Seat.

Devrie Brynn, who became an internet sensation after sharing her own trek up the hill, reacted to the movie’s depiction of characters Emma and Dexter, easily walking up the slope, Edinburgh Live reports.

She stated: “Apparently Netflix’s One Day is making Arthur’s Seat hike in Edinburgh romantic. I would like to set the record straight.”

Highlighting her viral video from two years ago, she pointed to a still of her exhausted expression and questioned: “Does this look like the face of someone about to declare love? Or does this look like the face of someone fighting for their life? “.

She humorously remarked: “You could not pay me enough money to trod beside the man that I was in love with, who friendzoned me for years because I had glasses and wasn’t pretty enough looking like this.”

Devrie continued with a touch of sarcasm: “The only kiss I would be receiving on this hill would be the kiss of death. Followed perhaps by the mouth-to-mouth resuscitation of a passerby with first aider training.”

She also mentioned that during her ascent, locals were concerned, asking if she was ‘alright’. She exclaimed: “I know that’s a common greeting here, but there was feeling behind it! “

Her comments resonated with many, as people flooded the comments section with their own gruelling stories of climbing the city’s ancient volcano.

One person shared: “When I made it to the top of Arthur’s Seat with the guy I was with I had to borrow his inhaler. We’re married now though.”

Another recounted: “I nearly got blown off the top of that mountain. It was biblical.”

A third person shared their experience, saying: “I attempted to hike Arthur’s seat, slipped like three times before I finally just gave up like one third of the way up and chilled with a pheasant.”

Another individual added their two cents, stating: “When I got down from that summit to find that they classified it as a HILL.”
