MERCER COUNTY, W.Va. – The Mercer County Health Department is administering necessary vaccines to the county following the recent flooding.

The Blue Prince Family Health vehicle was stationed at the Montcalm Fire Department from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today to give out Hep A and Tetanus shots, free of charge. They also offered water testing kits, although it does cost money to get your water tested by a lab.

In addition, the healthcare officials on site were passing out backpacks with supplies in it for those who need it. Dreama Hubbard, a nurse on site, said getting a tetanus shot after flooding is vital.

The Mercer County Health Department will be taking the Blue Prince Family Health vehicle to the Department of Highways on Wednesday, February 26 from 10 p.m. to 2 p.m. and to the Matoaka Fire Department on Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
