Celtic have little time to lick their wounds as they get ready to welcome a resurgent Aberdeen to Parkhead.

The Hoops’ 2-1 defeat at Easter Road against Hibs at the weekend contained a sting in the tail for the Premiership title holders. In just their second league defeat of the season, Daizen Maeda’s equalising goal was struck off after the officials, with the assistance of VAR, judged that the ball had gone out of play. An incensed Brendan Rodgers would have been eager for his side to rebound from their European elimination by Bayern Munich before Josh Campbell stepped in to deny them.

Aberdeen have stemmed their slump for the mean time with three consecutive wins against Dunfermline, Dundee and Aberdeen. New signing Oday Dabbagh came off the bench to score the winning goal in the 91st minute of their victory against Killie, sparking hope that the January recruits can earn their stripes. But Jimmy Thelin’s side don’t want to return to that losing feeling again and make the 14-match winless streak a distant memory.
