A man has been charged with attempted murder after another male was attacked in Johnstone.
Police confirmed a 45-year-old man had been arrested in connection with an incident.
Cops were called to William Street after reports of a 42-year-old man being found injured on Friday evening. It is understood he had summoned for help from neighbours.
He was subsequently transferred to Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital although his condition is not known at this time. The arrested man was due to make an appearance at Paisley Sheriff Court yesterday.
Detective inspector Gordon Smith, who is leading the investigation, has urged anyone with information to come forward.
He said: “We have established that the injured man sought help from the occupants of a flat on William Street after he was attacked.
“However, we are still working to determine where exactly the assault took place. I am, therefore, appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident to contact us.
“Did you see or hear any disturbance? Even the smallest detail could be crucial to our investigation, so please do not hesitate to get in touch.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3003 of 21 February 2025.
