Everyone’s favourite sponge is set for his debut appearance at EK Comic Con this weekend.
The loveable cartoon character SpongeBob SquarePants will join a list of sci-fi and fantasy favourites at Scotland’s largest free Comic Con at EK, East Kilbride on Saturday, March 1, and Sunday, March 2.
The BGCP organised showcase will feature a host of cosplay characters including, Spider-Man, Mario and Luigi, Bluey and Bingo, Deadpool, Stitch, and a first EK Comic Con appearance by Sonic the Hedgehog’s best friend Tails.
Over 80 traders will offer visitors a wealth of Comic Con goodies including, the finest comic books, cool action figures, handmade crafts, beautiful artwork, cuddly plushies, trading cards, dice, fun mystery bags, Funko Pop figures, Lego sets, anime merch, and much more.
Attendees can also look forward to the return of the Black Heart market, featuring a huge selection of traders and creators that specialise in horror, goth and alternative merchandise.
Budding writers will be able to pick up some top tips from 2000 AD, DC, Marvel and Tokyopop comic book writer, Jim Alexander, while aspiring artists will have the opportunity to learn how to draw a pirate from top illustrator, Neil Slorance.
There will also be a host of arcade machines and modern gaming consoles available, while youngsters can get up close to some baby dinos in the Jurassic Class.
Commenting on the event, EK, East Kilbride centre manager, Alan Smillie, said: “Comic Con is always a huge hit with our visitors and we are looking forward to welcoming the team back to EK with a whole host of new characters.”
EK Comic Con will take place in EK, East Kilbride from 10am to 4pm. Entry is free and no booking is required for workshops and meet & greet sessions.
