Streaming has overtaken traditional TV as the main way we consume television. And Sky Q boxes will now feature a highly anticipated streaming app that allows customers to stream even more binge-worthy content.

The free streaming app has finally landed on Sky Q boxes across the UK, after it has been available on Sky Glass and Sky Stream for a while.

And after this long sought-after addition to the Sky Q box, more Brits will be able to access Channel 5′s full on-demand service My5.

This new launch means that apps for all four of the UK’s main broadcasters will be available to watch on Sky Q- BBC, Channel 4, ITVX and Channel 5.

The company’s sister brands 5STAR, 5USA, 5SELECT and 5ACTION will also be available on Sky Q thanks to the addition of My5.

Although Sky customers could already find Channel 5 content on-demand, this new update will allow customers to watch all of Channel 5‘s programmes.

And another update is set to introduce even more new content to the anticipated app, as Channel 5 prepares a major revamp of its streaming service across all platforms in March.

The app is set to see a full transformation, from its new name – 5 – to a whole new look. It is also expected to see the addition of more box sets and live streamed channels.

According to Channel 5, My5 grew at its fastest ever rate in 2024, with the release of the documentary My Wife, My Abuser- its number one most watched single title.

The channel’s other original dramas such as All Creatures Great and Small, Blindspot, The Teacher and Ellis have also helped My5 grow, reported The Sun.

“Our expanded distribution across Sky Q marks an important milestone in My5’s ongoing growth, enabling us to reach more homes than ever before,” said Kiaran Saunders, VP Distribution at Paramount UK.

“With the upcoming refresh to 5, we’re thrilled to deliver an even more engaging, streamlined and richer viewing experience for all of our audiences.”
