A teen mum has been left blown away after the thermal imaging at a Scots tourist attraction captured “the cutest thing ever.”
Rae was visiting Edinburgh’s Camera Obscura and World of Illusions on the Royal Mile when her baby boy was visible still in the womb on their thermal filter.
But, not every pregnant visitor to the museum has spotted their baby – and there’s a reason for that.
The 19-year-old told Edinburgh Live: “The Thermal Camera experience was adorable and made me so happy, especially as I’m quite an anxious person who worries about my little one.
“Given the limited scans you have, I always wonder what he’s up to and if he’s doing okay. Seeing him made my day so much better and made the trip more fun. The staff were lovely, and the attractions were very cool!”
Rae shared her experience on TikTok, posting: “Seeing your baby on a thermal filter has to be the cutest thing ever.”
One follower replied: “I’m always terrified of these because I have IBS so I fear they will show my farts, but this is nice.”
Another added: “Did not know this was possible, that is incredible!” A third commented: “I went when I was seven months pregnant and couldn’t see anything” So Jealous!”
After several questioned why their baby hadn’t shown up on their visit, Rae responded: “IT won’t show up if you have a shirt on, it’s only able to sense the temperature of your shirt because it’s over the area so it can’t scan.”

Andrew Johnson, General Manager of Camera Obscura & World of Illusions said: “Our Thermal Camera is one of our most popular exhibits and we are delighted that Rae was able to have the special experience of seeing her unborn baby.
“This is not the first time our Thermal Camera exhibit has impacted the lives of our visitors, previously helping to detect early stages of breast cancer in another visitor. We really appreciate being part of all our visitor’s life changing moments, and wish Rae all the best with her pregnancy.”
