The parents of a gang of teens who rampaged through a Glasgow shop have apologised after they attacked a man working in the premises.

We previously told how a member of staff was left shaken and requiring hospital treatment after around £500 worth of stock was stolen. Police launched a probe after the incident happened on Bilsland Drive, Glasgow, at around 7pm on Friday, February 21.

And now, after Glasgow Live shared footage of the incident, parents of three of the teens involved have stepped in.

One of the teens involved has returned to the shop with their parent and “sincerely apologised” for their behaviour before leaving £50 for what they had taken.

A second parent is said to have reported their child to police and apologised to staff on their behalf. And a third contacted the shop via social media to apologise for their child’s behaviour.

The owners of the store said: “Thanks to the parents that have been in touch. I understand it’s not easy”.

Members of the community are urging other parents who recognise their child in the footage to come forward, saying “an apology and some reassurance goes a long way and it’s the right thing to do”.

Since the incident, the owners and staff have received well wishes and endless amounts of support from the Ruchill community. One kind family made a ‘Thinking of You’ card and wrote a touching message inside along with £50 in cash. The message inside reads: “I was so saddened and shocked to see the attack on you and your shop. It is not much but I hope this card and small amount of cash is a sign that you have my support and care”.

Officers were called to the scene on Friday following reports of a ‘disturbance and assault’ and confirmed enquiries were ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.15pm on Friday, February 21, 2025, we received a report of a disturbance and assault within a shop premises at Bilsland Drive, Glasgow. Enquiries are ongoing.”
