WASHINGTON (Gray DC) – President Trump held his first cabinet meeting. During a more than hour-long interaction with the press, Trump laid out his priorities and defending Elon Musk.
The President announced to reporters in the Cabinet Room that the U.S. and Ukraine have reached a deal over Ukraine’s mineral resources -a deal that does not include security guarantees for Ukraine.
“Well, I’m not going to make security guarantees beyond, very much. We’re going to have Europe do that because it’s in you know, we’re talking about Europe. Is there next to our neighbor, but we’re going to make sure everything goes well. ”
President Trump said Ukrainian President Zelensky will sign that deal at the White House on Friday.
Billionaire Elon Musk has been tasked with cutting the size of the federal government. Unusually, he was also in the cabinet room, wearing a t-shirt saying “tech support.”
“But if we don’t do this, America will go bankrupt. That’s why it has to be done. I’m confident at this point. Knock on wood. Yeah, but, I wouldn’t have, the it’s got a lot of work, but, that we can actually find $1 trillion in savings. That would be a roughly 15 stand up to $7 trillion budget.”
The President made it clear that Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency have his full support.
“Is there anyone unhappy with Elon….throw them out of here.”
The President said his top priority right now is inflation – and bringing down the cost of eggs and other goods. The President also announcing that he’s committed to imposing trade tariffs on all of America’s trading partners on April 2nd. That’s move that many economist say could lead to higher prices.
