WASHINGTON (Gray DC) – President Donald Trump signed three Executive Orders in the Oval Office. He then took a slew of reporters’ questions for 45 minutes on a variety of topics, including several from Gray Media’s White House correspondent Jon Decker.
The President said that the U.S. will soon make available what he called a “Gold Card.” The new program would allow any foreign national to gain what Trump called a “pathway to citizenship” if the person pays $5 million to the U.S. Treasury. Jon Decker asked the President for further details about obtaining a “Gold Card.”
“It’s going to be a route to citizenship. And wealthy people will be coming into our country by buying this card. They’ll be wealthy and they’ll be successful, and they’ll be spending a lot of money and paying a lot of taxes and employing a lot of people. And we think it’s going to be extremely successful.”
The President also indicated that Ukrainian President Zelensky may be at the White House on Friday to sign a possible U.S. deal for mineral rights. The President responded to Jon Decker’s question about the just-announced deal.
“War-fighting equipment and the ammunition that sustain going forward for Ukraine. How long is it sustained? Well, it could go forward for a while. And, maybe until we have a deal with Russia. Look, if we’re going to, we need to have a deal with Russia. Otherwise it’s going to continue. But now, when Americans put up their money, the taxpayer money, and the president approves it, we’re getting our money back in some form.”
The President also answered Decker’s question regarding where things stand on the release of hostages by Hamas.
“No, I think the opposite. So, as you know, they weren’t going to release any more hostages. And I said, there’s going to be hell to pay. And then they agreed that they were going to release the hostages that they had agreed to release, plus an extra one. And, so that you could say that was a big difference. But, I said from that point, it’s up to Bibi Netanyahu and Israel. I may have taken a different stance.”
The President also made some news in the sports world. He extended an invitation to the Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles to visit the White House. Earlier, players indicated they were not interested to going, but the team’s owner has said they would go.
