
TAZEWELL COUNTY, Va. – Following reports of a man posing as a police officer to pull over women, the Tazewell County Sherriff’s Office are reporting they have arrested a suspect.
The Sherriff’s Office shared this message in a social media post:
“Following a thorough investigation, authorities located the truck in question and identified the driver as 55-year-old Teddy McClanahan of Richlands, Virginia. McClanahan has been formally charged for the events that occurred that night [February 22, 2025]. From the investigation we believe that this was an isolated incident.”
The department went on to thank the Cedar Bluff Police Department and the Richlands Police Department for their help in the investigation and they thank the public for calling in credible tips.
McClanahan was released on summons and has a hearing on June 4, 2025. He is charged with a misdemeanor of reckless driving.
