MEXIA, Texas — The Texas Department of State Health Services said a report by the Mexia Independent School District of a case of measles was a false alarm.
Director of Media Relations, Chris Van Deusen, called it a “miscommunication with a parent.” He said they were trying to reach the district to make sure they were aware.
The district posted a letter it sent to parents on its Facebook page that there was one confirmed case of measles. That was around 2 p.m. Van Deusen responded around 2:30 p.m. that it was a false alarm.
6 News has tried to reach the Mexia ISD Superintendent Ryder Appleton but we have not heard back as of the time this article was published.
This is a developing story. Stay with 6 News for the latest updates.
