AUSTIN, Texas — McCallum High School was temporarily placed in secure mode Friday after a student reported being threatened with a gun at a nearby McDonald’s.

In a letter to parents sent Friday afternoon, the school’s principal said the administration immediately contacted Austin ISD police to investigate the incident. The secure mode was lifted after about 30 minutes once officers determined the campus was safe.
