A man has been arrested for killing a 29-year-old man in a hit-and-run car accident in Brooklyn that happened just more than year ago, police announced Thursday.

Christopher Seabrook, 28, of Brooklyn has been busted in connection with the death of Hayden Wallace on Jan. 8, 2024, when a man driving a Kia Sportage crashed into the Toyota Yaris that Wallace was riding in with friends on Stockholm St. in Bushwick around 12:45 a.m. before fleeing the scene, according to police.

Hayden Wallace was riding in a Toyota Yaris heading east on Stockholm St. in Bushwick, Brooklyn, when the driver of a Kia Sportage slammed into them at Irving Ave. about 12:45 a.m. Jan. 8. Wallace was killed in the crash.

Wallace, who had recently moved to Brooklyn from Texas, texted a friend about how happy he was and how much fun he was having with his new friends shortly before he died, his heartbroken family told the Daily News at the time.

“He had texted [his best friend] that night saying, ‘I’m having such a good time, and I met some new people,’” his aunt Kippy Perkins said of the night of the fatal collision. “He hadn’t met that many people in the gay community, so he was super excited. And he said he had a great night.

“He lived life to the fullest,” Perkins said of Wallace. “He was only 29 years old and lit up every room he entered. He was loved by so many.”

Two of the friends who were in the Toyota with Wallace were also critically injured in the crash but survived. The Toyota’s driver, Jorge Sanchez de Lozada Haiek, was charged with driving without a license immediately after the crash.

Following the accident, Seabrook and a passenger exited the Kia and ran away from the scene, police said.

Seabrook is charged with manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, leaving the scene of an accident and other charges.
