JACKSON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (KYW) – It’s the end of an era.

Kingda Ka, once the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the world, is now a pile of rubble after it was imploded at New Jersey’s Six Flags Great Adventure on Friday morning.

Kingda Ka launched riders to a top speed of 128 miles per hour and has carried more than 12 million passengers since it opened in 2005.

Six Flags retired the coaster to make room for new rides.
