Meghan Markle might have had to reveal “more than Harry would want” in her new Netflix series, an expert has suggested.
Speaking on the Sky News Daily podcast with Niall Paterson, Sky’s Royal correspondent Rhiannon Mills discussed the Duchess of Sussex’s latest project, ‘With Love, Meghan’.
The show is the most recent in a series of ventures that haven’t been met with universal acclaim, and early signs suggest it may not break the trend, the Express reports.
Rhiannon pointed out that after a failed five-part documentary about professional polo, Netflix is likely keen to recoup investments.

She drew parallels between Meghan’s show and Prince Harry’s tell-all memoir, ‘Spare’, implying that just as Harry may have shared more personal details than he preferred, the former Suits actress too might have had to offer up more private insights for the show.
Rhiannon remarked: “So, the polo show bombed, and so Netflix will want to be recouping some of their money. In a way, it’s a bit like when Harry wrote his book, Spare.
“You got the impression that he had to give probably more than he maybe wanted in terms of an insight into his family life, and I think Meghan, with this show as well, probably has had to kind of give more than…
“Well, certainly maybe give more than Harry would want her to in terms of letting them into her personal life.”
The eight-part lifestyle series sees the duchess swapping tips on gardening, cooking and hosting with a host of famous friends on a Californian estate.
The 33-minute episodes showcase a variety of crafts such as candle-making, creating children’s fruit platters, vegetable picking, and arranging brunch for her family.
Celebrity guests include Mindy Kaling and Abigail Spencer, along with some of the couple’s friends like photographer Delfina Blaquier and makeup artist Daniel Martin.
With Love, Meghan, seen as a pivotal moment in Harry and Meghan’s massive $100 million deal with Netflix, was set to air in January but was postponed due to wildfires in Los Angeles.
However, the show currently holds a disappointing 33 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with the Telegraph branding it an “exercise in narcissism” and the Guardian labelling it “toe-curlingly unlovable TV.”
It has also faced backlash from viewers, with one commenting: “Six minutes of with love Meghan… ok only for richest people..so.. bye-bye.”
Another added: “I’m not even 30 seconds into the first episode and I already know that With Love, Meghan is the FAKESTEST stuff ever.”
