Apple lovers will be delighted to hear that the tech giant has announced the release of their latest MacBook Air. This updated laptop was announced on March 5 and Apple has said it is “unlike any other laptop”.

The latest release is currently available to pre-order with prices starting at £999, which is £100 less than older models. The laptop will be released for general sale on March 12, but what makes this latest release so great?

Firstly, the new MacBook Air features the ‘blazing-fast’ performance of the M4 chip, which will make the new laptop up to two times faster than the M1 model. On top of this, in comparison to the fastest Mac with an Intel-processor, the M4 model is said to deliver up to 23x faster performance.

The new MacBook Air is also said to possess up to 18 hours of battery life, which is a six hour upgrade on previous Intel-based models. The cheapest laptop also comes with 16GB of unified memory, along with 256GB of storage. There are two sizes available to pre-order – 13 inch and 15 inch.

Also within the slim and light design of the MacBook Air, you will get to enjoy the incredible capabilities of macOS Sequoia along with Apple Intelligence. You also won’t need to worry about any video calls, whether that be with family or for work, as the MacBook includes a new 12MP Centre Stage camera – keeping you in view at all times.

Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, said: “MacBook Air is by far the world’s most popular laptop, and today we’re giving everyone even more reasons to love it, including a big boost in performance with the M4 chip, a new Centre Stage camera, and a beautiful new sky blue colour.

“Combined with its thin and light, fanless design, all-day battery life, and the incredible capabilities of macOS Sequoia with Apple Intelligence, MacBook Air is unlike any other laptop. And with a new lower starting price of $999, MacBook Air delivers more value to consumers than ever before, making this the perfect moment to upgrade or experience the Mac for the first time.”

With any new release, discounts across older devices will hopefully begin to fall, meaning you can land yourself with a high-quality laptop for a decent price. Currently, Amazon has taken £100 off the Apple 2024 MacBook Pro laptop, which also includes the M4 chip. It can buy it for £1,499 instead of its usual RRP of £1,599.

Alternatively, you can buy the Apple MacBook Air 2022 with 512GB storage from Argos for £949. Prices for these products could fall closer to the release date, so it is recommended to keep your eye out for some bargains.
