MORGANTOWN, W.Va (WDTV) – Dozens gathered outside of the Monongalia County Courthouse in Morgantown to protest Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

The protest took place at noon on Tuesday, March 4, 2025.

It was organized by citizen response organization, “Mountaineers Indivisible.”

Members of the group say that the recent termination of government employees motivated the protest.

They hope it raises awareness and are wanting government officials to take notice.

“We want our representatives to actually listen to us and do something, and that’s not even a partisan thing,” said Action Co-Chair of Mountaineers Indivisible, Shay Clayton Nestor. “We just want them to listen to the folks and see this corruption and do something about it.”

“They said they were comfortable,” said Action Co-Chair of Mountaineers Indivisible, Barbara Fleischauer. “We are not comfortable, and we think that they need to get the facts, find out about their fellow citizens that have been fired and the contract that are going, going gone, and say why does that make them feel comfortable?”

Tuesday’s protest was just the most recent in a string of them that have taken place across the state.
