Believe! Cher showed up at one of New York City’s most beloved kitchens Wednesday morning to thank volunteers and staff of the nonprofit God’s Love We Deliver, the city’s only non-profit organization that provides medically tailored meals and nutrition services to individuals affected by severe and chronic illness.

The pop goddess, 78, stopped by GLWD headquarters in SoHo early on Wednesday ahead of the organization’s annual Love Rocks NYC benefit concert.

The “If I Could Turn Back Time” singer explained why helping others is “one of the most gratifying things you can do,” and even reveal her favorite recipe:  “A secret sauce that Sonny’s mom taught me.”

On Thursday, Cher will be joined by an impressive lineup of A-listers, including Alicia Keys, Beck, Kate Hudson and Peter Frampton, at the Beacon Theatre in Manhattan’s Upper West Side. The benefit concert is meant to raise awareness and much-needed funds for GLWD’s mission: improving the health and well-being of people living with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other serious illnesses.

This year, proceeds from the star-studded event will not only help GLWD but will also benefit Project Angel Food in Los Angeles as a response to the devastating wildfires in the area.

“I can’t think of a better way to spend my time,” Cher told a select group of the approximately 23,000 volunteers who help the organization deliver more than 4 million meals to 17,000 New Yorkers every year, adding she was “in awe of this whole thing.”

While the Oscar- and Grammy-winning star remained mysterious about her upcoming Love Rocks NYC performance, she opened up about why helping others has played such an important part in her life.

“My mom just said that if you see somebody who needs something, do it. You know?’” she said.

“And we didn’t really have anything, but my mom was great at helping people… It’s like, help someone who crosses your path, don’t chew gum, and don’t litter. (She said) that’s what you’re supposed to do. So, anyway, so I’m doing all of it, I think,” she said. “I’m happy to be here.”
