PRINCETON, W. Va. -With help for McDowell County coming from different places, one person bringing aid to residents is a local student who created a food drive with help from a local restaurant.
Jimmies Restaurant was approached by a Glenwood School student and founder of “Colton Bailey Says Hi” to create a drive for the people of McDowell County. This starts Sunday and will run through this Saturday, March 15th.
To encourage donations, those who donate are entered into a drawing for a $25 Jimmies Restaurant gift card. The restaurant’s owner, Jamie Hall, says they are looking for nonperishable food items which will be a big help to McDowell County residents as they work to get back on their feet.
“Already this morning, the first day, we’ve had four cases of water dropped off, some Gatorade, and some peanut butter, so just nonperishable, things that they can use…” says Hall, “…I say they’re in dire need, no matter if you just got your basement flooded or whether it took the whole house out. Any help is going to be needed in that area.”
Again, this drive will run through Saturday, March 15th.
