SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio ISD school counselor made it to “Wheel of Fortune.” Chelsea Hall was on Wednesday night’s episode that aired on KENS 5.
The counselor at Pershing Elementary School said appearing on the show runs in the family; her sister was on it 10 years ago.
“She really encouraged me the last few years to apply,” she said. “I did. And now, here we are.”
Hall has been in educators for several years. She spent her time in the classroom and is now a counselor.
“I do deeply believe that education is the great equalizer,” she said. “This is where I can reach the most kids. When you see one kid laugh, one kid smile it is like, ‘OK, I know why I am here.'”
She also made clear watching “Wheel of Fortune” is something she loves, having grown up watching the show. She still makes time to catch episodes to this day.
“We watch every night as a family,” Hall said. “Yes, every single night. My whole family lives in the same neighborhood.”
On Wednesday night, loved ones met to watch Hall on the game show. She filmed the episode back in January.
“I am very proud to represent San Antonio,” she said. “I am proud of where I am from.”
Hall explained how her career has helped her solved puzzles.
“I am like that is what we do all day,” she said. “Like you are handed a paper, and you have got to be able to read it even with the missing letters. So, I am looking at the puzzles, and I am like, ‘Please, I do this for a living. I know exactly what that says without any vowels.'”
Hall did made it to the bonus round. She solved the puzzle within seconds: “Kicking back and relaxing.”
She took home a convertible MINI Cooper and more than $21,000, a total of cash and prizes of more than $62,000.
“I had to be keep it very quiet,” she said. “I am excited everyone knows now and can see how well I did.”
Hall said spinning the wheel was not easy. She also encourages anyone to apply and said to be patient. She applied back in 2023 and didn’t get the email on filming until this past December.
She said the whole experience was well worth it.
